Category - alumni

Elaine is an IT graduate who worked in London and later Singapore with a multi-national IT firm. She developed her passion in heritage and the arts while living in London and in New York. On returning to Singapore, Elaine trained to be a docent with the Friends of the Museums (FOM), thereafter guiding at most of the National Heritage Board Museums and also at the National Gallery of Singapore. She served three terms as President of FOM. She also served as a member of the Docent Advisory Board for the National Gallery Singapore and was a member of the Asian Civilisations Museum Advisory Board. She believes the young should own their country’s history and in 2008 helped set up the first bi-lingual (English and Chinese) guiding program in the National Museum of Singapore for students from the Hwa Chong Institution. Elaine’s foray into the arts of South East Asia as a docent piqued her interest in the narratives of the artists and hence she embarked on the Masters in Asian Art Histories Programme which she completed in 2017.
