Albert Lim (Graduated in 2018)

Category - alumni

Together with his wife Linda, Albert has been collecting Southeast Asian modern and contemporary arts for 15 years. When they shifted their focus to collecting artworks by Singapore artists in 2010, two exhibitions of ink paintings and calligraphy by renowned artist Lim Tze Peng were privately organised by them: My Kampong My Home (2010) and Songs from the Heart (2013).

His pursuit of LASALLE’s MA in Asian Arts Histories adds intellectual rigour to his aesthetic tastes and collecting interests. Some of his collection have been loaned to the Singapore Art Museum and the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney. Recently, private viewings of his collections were opened to students from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Los Angeles and philanthropists from the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney.

His research interest deals with a local artist’s response to history and identity and the reimaging of an alternative narrative. The local art scene is of particular interest to Albert and his wife and they hope to able to share their collecting experience and interest with others.
