Anna Koshcheeva (Graduated in 2018)

Category - alumni

Anna is interested in the ways global ideologies intersect with vernacular agency and Buddhist subjectivities in spaces of national imagination and visual arts. Her approaches are informed by cultural histories, theories of decolonization, political modernities and an iconographic analysis. She advances research and critical thinking on visual arts of one of the least studied counties in Southeast Asia – the Lao PDR. Anna received her MA in Asian Art Histories from LASALLE in 2018 with her thesis Art of Post-Socialist Laos: Contesting the Motherland, her Past and Future. She also holds an MA in World Economics (UdSU, Russia) which helps her to situate Lao cultural processes in international context yet advance Lao-centric perspective. Anna has presented at multiple conferences including Possession and Persuasion Cornell Southeast Asia Programme’s 20th Annual Graduate Student Conference in 2018.
