In our “civilized” world, with seemingly endless urban possibilities, do we value nature as the beginning of all things? The witty reference of Strawberry Fields… to the legendary song “Strawberry Fields Forever” by the Beatles owes its relevance to the role of the environment—social, urban, or otherwise. The song, released in the late sixties, refers to Lennon’s memories of his childhood playing in a garden near his home called Strawberry Fields. This exhibition, also titled Strawberry Fields…, ambitiously hopes to reclaim the urban green zone in Bangkok. By allowing graphic markings and graffiti on the gallery walls, Strawberry Fields… envisions an imaginary garden extended beyond the perimeters of the greenery surrounding RMA. Old objects are revived in graphic collages, luminous sculptures transform the gallery space beyond its function; canvases and graffiti expand the horizon of the enclosed space into a fantastical garden that heightens environmental awareness. Strawberry Field is curated by Loredana Pazzini-Paracciani.

This exhibition is curated by Loredana Pazzini-Paracciani, who graduated from the Asian Art Histories Programme in 2011. Loredana is an independent art curator. Currently based in Singapore, her curatorial work focuses primarily on young and emerging artists from Thailand and Singapore.
